The Art of Rewarding Yourself with Melodio Foundation

Frying pancakes without visual inspection with pleasure

The joy of conscious cooking

Frying pancakes can be so much more than just routine food preparation. If we immerse ourselves in it with all our senses, we can discover a deep joy that comes from focus, connection with our own bodies and the natural rhythm of the activity. This approach not only makes cooking easier, but also teaches us to see ordinary activities as a space to reward ourselves with the joy of the activity itself. The enjoyment of the here and now.

Joy with all the senses

Joy can come from several sources. The first is perception through all the senses – instead of visual inspection, I can rely on the smell of the pancakes, which gradually changes during frying, the gentle crackle of the batter and the tactile inspection of the surface of the pancake, which, when cooked properly, separates easily from the pan.

Playfulness

The great joy in human life is playfulness, if we indulge in it. Once I gain confidence, I can also playfully allow myself to flip pancakes in the air, adding an element of lightness and relaxation.

The joy of movement

Another source of joy is the conscious connection to one’s own movement. When I spill the dough on the pan, I also feel the circling of my hand. I can also twirl my pan for joy. This reminds me of my attitude. I become aware of whether I am standing firmly on both feet, whether my pelvis is supported, my breath is free and my body relaxed. I may pause for a moment and notice my physical state, gaining not only stability but also inner peace.

Cool rhythm

Last but not least, there’s a smooth rhythm and focus. Through trial and error, I figured out that my pancakes fried in 1 minute and 15 seconds on a hot griddle. I set my timer for that time and then enjoy the space bounded by the individual timer signals as a space to be in the here and now. As a space to reward myself with smell, movement, and pooling saliva. I suppress the urge to skip off to other work, like unload a few things from the dishwasher, wipe down the counter, read a report, etc. I enjoy the present moment. With clear timing and conscious awareness, I move between the stages of frying without rushing or stress. Every time the minute rings, I move on to the next pancake with calm and confidence. I have time not only for the frying itself, but also for the transitional processes such as pouring the batter or brushing with oil. It’s a kind of meditation in motion.

The joy of giving

Not to mention that you can invite your loved ones to the pancakes, and it is also a pleasure to have the opportunity to please and treat someone.

Positive Intelligence and Coaching

Positive intelligence is the ability to experience happiness. We can increase this ability like any other ability.

Do you like the principles presented, but are you worried about whether you will implement it in your life? Do you find yourself inspired by self-development articles, but then forget about it and do things “the old-fashioned way”?

You can find a partner on your journey in the form of a coach, for example.

The Melodio Foundation helps people with disabilities to overcome barriers. My name is Kateřina Pešková and I am practically blind myself. I am a coach certified by the International Coach Federation and I coach people with disabilities for Melodio NF. With my clients, among other things, we transform everyday activities into a source of joy and self-discovery. By doing our activities consciously, we respect our limits while developing our strengths. We live a full life. If you have a disability and would like financial support to implement coaching sessions, you can contact the Melodio Foundation with confidence. This is what our mission is all about.

Whether you see well, poorly or not at all, you can be inspired and live a full life. You can be inspired and make your own pancakes.
